Day Three ... Tasmania

Tasmania!

Day three in Tasmania included a trip to the Salamanca Market (only open on Saturday from 8:30 to 3 pm) and a short exploration of Richmond.
Firstly let me say I haven't been sleeping so great at night, its as if my minds racing with a million different thoughts, ideas and dreams that I can't close my eyes and relax! So in turn I find myself saying "hey lets wake up at 7:30am and get there early!" when in reality I need another two hours of sleep!
Anyways ... The Salamanca Markets was nice, the boyfriend and I were kinda disappointed though. We were both expecting a lot more from it. I was hoping for a lot more vintage/second hand items to buy and he was hoping for a wider variety of local produce instead of the same thing in pretty much every fresh produce stall. We ended up only spending two hours there (more than enough time to look at everything properly) We did have a rude experience with a man behind a stall selling knives (boyfriend is a chef, so any knife must be looked at). When asking a simple questioned he seemed pissed off! and instead of answering the question (by the way we were nothing but nice!) he pointed to picture frame with the info and said rather rudely "so I don't have to answer the same question all day". Now don't get me wrong I understand that it could be annoying, but when you're selling a product that cost $350 more than a frame with some words of information is needed! I don't know I'm rambling. Just thought it was really unnecessary. Apart from that everyone else we've meet in Tasmania has been heaps nice and so has the environment, I guess no matter where you go you're going to meet someone like that.
We both though did buy some things which I'll put in a post at the end of the trip.
Hobart isn't the most bustling busy city like Sydney is, so it was disappointing to find that after the markets we really didn't know what to do?! Most things are closed on the weekend oddly enough? So we just decided to drive. My boyfriend is a cheese fanatic, but unfortunately Hobart isn't the place for great cheese? or maybe we couldn't find any? Anyways I found a place called Wicked Cheese Co. in Richmond so we headed in that direction. It's a small and friendly place with a small cheese tasting at the counter and some great cheese, we ended up buying some cheeses called wicked blue (blue cheese) and triple brie (so buttery!) They have a small cafe there so we had lunch there. I had the minestrone soup (average) and he had a ham with cheddar cheese turkish bread sandwich toasted (average) I also wanted to visit the bridge in Richmond so we just spent the afternoon hanging around and visiting the very small town of Richmond. Had a good time making jokes at the expense of the ducks. I love ducks. That's all from me today, night.

Day 2 - Tasmania

Day 2 in Tasmania included the following dinner at Cygnet Hotel, lunch at The Source restaurant at MONA and The Museum of Old and New Art.
We were looking for dinner last night around town (we didn't want to cook!) unfortunately Cygnet does not have many restaurants or places to eat that are open late. We decided to head into Cygnet Hotel's pub. We ordered the chicken parma for $19. It's definitely nothing fancy but the plate was huge and I was satisfied (though it seemed like forever before it came out for a place that wasn't busy :/ ). The dining area seems to be a hall that changes for different occasion (theres a disco ball there so I'm guessing it's a function hall too).
We then headed out to Hobart to have lunch at The Source. It's a fine dining restaurant at The Museum of New and Old Art. We spent $150 for two entree's, two mains, two glasses of white wine and one desert that we shared. Everything was beautifully presented and cooked and the view was stunning!
After lunch we went to check out the museum (it's $20 for entry for non tasmanian residents and those without concession) The museum could definitely be done in a day or even a few hours if you're simply browsing through. The art was great especially the interactive ones some of my favourites included the mirror room (very trippy) the white book room and the giant television (very matrix like). It was 4:30 pm when we left and I was pooped. Driving back home takes around an hour so we wanted to get back before it got too dark. That's all for now, bring on tomorrow!
