DIY Dyed Disposable Wooden Cutlery

/ Monday, 27 January 2014 /

I did it! I really wanted to do some do it yourself projects but when your 7 month pregnant its hard to find the energy and enthusiasm to get anything done! But today I managed to get a huge list of things to do done for the baby shower. First up on that list was this How To: Dip Dye Wooden Cutlery. I loved this post and thought it was so much funner than buying ordinary plastic cutlery. It was super easy to do also.

All you need is

  • food dye (blue, green, red and yellow)
  • water
  • medium sized bowls (that won't stain)
  • wooden disposable cutlery
  • gloves (food dye stains everything and anything!!)

At first I was being pretty dumb and doing the cutlery individually until I realised that I could just dump the lot into the the separate coloured filled bowls and let the wooden cutlery absorb the dyed water. The more water you place into the bowl the more surface area the cutlery will absorb. Altogether I'd say it took about 15 minutes to get 100 each of the wooden cutlery forks, knives and spoons done. But if your pregnant just a bit of advice do not sit on the floor crossed leg or sit on the floor in any position at all at 7 months because getting up is hell.

I absolutely love the end result!

Aloha from 2014! I thought I do a little recap of some things that I've received. I had recently done a post about note books. I actually went out and bought the green one and surprisingly my boyfriend had gone out as a surprise and bought me the pink one! It was really funny when I showed him my purchase and he just gave me this face of "oh shit" lol but you can never have to many note books!

Sticky Gram!!!
I love absolutely love sticky gram! I never make instant purchases but when I saw you could turn your instagram photos into magnets I didn't even hesitate and for only $14 (includes postage!) The quality came out great also! The process is pretty much you can only use photos they have been posted onto your instagram page. You have a selection of 9 photos you can choose from. You can also get phone covers and iPad covers done. It came in the mail super fast too (during the holiday season too) I highly recommend it. Best impulse thing I've done online!

The post office
At the beginning of December I sent out invitations for my baby shower. I accidentally wrote the wrong address on one envelope and luckily a nice person posted it back to me though the cool thing is they sent it back to Julian Richard Bain, what's so cool about that you say? Thats the name of our baby! He hasn't even been born yet and he got mail! Richard and I had a good laugh about it and it pretty much made my day.

The blue bag
My boyfriend had made me PROMISE I MEAN PROMISE not to buy him a Xmas present. We are current saving up money towards a deposit for a place of our own, so we decided not to buy anyone any presents this year and we didn't expect anything from anyone either. Now usually I wouldn't listen to him and go do it anyways but he was extremely adamant about it so for the first time I listened to him. THEN WHAT DOES HE GO DO!! He goes and buys me the blue bag pictured above after we were shopping one day and I got sad that I couldn't buy it for myself. He got me good though cause I had absolutely no idea he had gotten me anything. I love when he surprises me :)
