Day 2 - Tasmania

/ Friday, 26 July 2013 /

Day 2 in Tasmania included the following dinner at Cygnet Hotel, lunch at The Source restaurant at MONA and The Museum of Old and New Art.
We were looking for dinner last night around town (we didn't want to cook!) unfortunately Cygnet does not have many restaurants or places to eat that are open late. We decided to head into Cygnet Hotel's pub. We ordered the chicken parma for $19. It's definitely nothing fancy but the plate was huge and I was satisfied (though it seemed like forever before it came out for a place that wasn't busy :/ ). The dining area seems to be a hall that changes for different occasion (theres a disco ball there so I'm guessing it's a function hall too).
We then headed out to Hobart to have lunch at The Source. It's a fine dining restaurant at The Museum of New and Old Art. We spent $150 for two entree's, two mains, two glasses of white wine and one desert that we shared. Everything was beautifully presented and cooked and the view was stunning!
After lunch we went to check out the museum (it's $20 for entry for non tasmanian residents and those without concession) The museum could definitely be done in a day or even a few hours if you're simply browsing through. The art was great especially the interactive ones some of my favourites included the mirror room (very trippy) the white book room and the giant television (very matrix like). It was 4:30 pm when we left and I was pooped. Driving back home takes around an hour so we wanted to get back before it got too dark. That's all for now, bring on tomorrow!
