I've been back in Sydney for 4 days now and I'm really sad, Tasmania was amazing. I can honestly say I wasn't homesick once. Except my Mac Pro's charger broke hence the lack of blogging! I thought I'd just sum up the last days of our trip to Tassie. We ended up visiting Bruny Island, which was kinda a let down to be honest except for one place called Bruny Island's Premium Wine. It was amazing we ended up getting a shared platter (see photos) and buying two bottles of Bruny Island SRG Riesling wine. We also visited the chocolate place called Bruny Island Providore. Bought some fudge still haven't tasted them though cause we ended up going to the Cadbury Factory also and bought a bit too much packets of chocolate (unfortunately we went on our last day in Tasmania so we missed the last tour of the factory!) Though Bruny Island was a bit disappointing in regards to the shop fronts they had, the Island itself was beautiful and had some stunning views and lookout points.
We also took a very long trip to Port Arthur to do the ghost tour at night. The drive was around 3 hours from where we were staying but it was nice to experience a ghost tour for the first time, didn't see any ghost though! But I won't lie I was a tad bit scared shitless. We also had dinner at the restaurant at Port Arthur it was average or just below wouldn't personally recommend it.
Although the best place we went by far is the Grandvewe Cheeses we had the best time visiting their sheep farming and learning all we possible could about cheese. It was the only place where we were able to experience a cheese affinage tour for only $50 pp. This included a tour of where they made their cheese and also allowed us to actually do some work that they personally do to the cheese. We ended up poking holes into some blue cheese which allows the cheese to develop its flavours through out the cheese mould. The tour goes for 90 minutes but we were lucky to be the only people there so our tour went for around 2 hours. It definitely felt less like a tour and more like a real sharing experience. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the woman who was our guide (the owner's daughter) but she was the best! There's nothing better than meeting someone who is genuinely interested in what they our doing.
Our last day saw our plane departure for 8 pm at night, so we had the day to do some things, sadly it wasn't the peak season in Tasmania so a lot of things closed earlier than usual. We ended up just going to MONA again and spending the afternoon there. Had some wine and deserts at the cellar bar. We ended our trip with a beautiful sunset over the lovely grounds of MONA. Though Tasmania was a few days ago I already miss it. It was wonderful. I definitely miss it and will be back!
